Shared-Use Corridor Sensitivity Analysis for the oroville to Wenatchee Corridor
The goal of this analysis is to quantify the marginal benefit of each additional siding or signal block on the Wenatchee–Oroville single-track corridor’s throughput and reliability. In simpler terms, we examine how each incremental infrastructure investment improves the line’s capacity (how many trains it can handle with acceptable delays) and reduces delays for trains. By analyzing scenarios with different combinations of sidings and signal upgrades, we can determine the “value of capacity” added by each project and identify the optimal set of improvements for the expected traffic demand. This helps justify phased funding and set engineering priorities – essentially, showing which upgrades deliver the biggest bang for the buck in terms of delay reduction per dollar invested.
